CycleCloud BigScience Challenge 2011

Cycle Computing is excited to announce the first ever CycleCloud BigScience Challenge! We’ve decided to go big or go home by offering the equivalent of 8 hours on a ~30,000-core cluster ($10,000 in free CycleCloud time) to help researchers answer questions that will help humanity.

If you have one of these questions please fill out the challenge entry form describing your career, the work you do, why you believe in it, the question you have, and how you want to use clusters having up to 30,000 cores or more to solve it.

We want the runts, the misfits, the crazy ideas that are normally too big or too expensive to ask, but might, just might, help humanity. Proposals are due by November 7th, and we’ll announce the Finalists at Booth #443 at Supercomputing 2011.

Challenge at a Glance

Here are a few key points to introduce you to the CycleCloud BigScience Challenge 2011!

• Contest is open to individuals or researchers on behalf of non-profit organizations.
• No idea is too big or crazy. If you have a question you think a CycleCloud cluster can answer, sign up for the challenge.
• The grand Prize is $10,000 of CycleCloud credit with 4 hours of CycleCloud engineering support.
• There are up to five finalist prizes of $500 of CycleCloud usage credit with 4 hours of CycleCloud engineering support.
• Finalists will be announced at Booth #443 at Supercomputing 2011.
